NEXT Student Handbook
This handbook has been written to clearly communicate information, policies, and expectations to our students and their parents. The Next District 6 Program provides the best learning environment for our students. Our school is one in which we all should take pride and assume responsibility to ensure continued success and growth. We hope this handbook plays its part in helping you as a student or parent have an enjoyable and productive school year. This is your school; be proud of it and take pride in it. Welcome to the new school year!
Our Mission
Zero Dropouts (ZD) is an educational social enterprise, with a national scope, founded in Colorado in 2011 by educator and social entrepreneur, Steve Dobo. The philosophy of ZD is grounded on the belief that all students have the ability to be successful in education and life. ZD focuses on supporting the continuum of education, specifically within schools and school districts, from elementary through to post-secondary and on to college completion.
Each student will have the opportunity to develop skills in the following areas:
- Accessing and processing information
- Thinking, reasoning, and problem solving
- Achieving working skills in technology
- Dealing with change
- Developing creativity
- Valuing themselves and contributing to the community
- Exhibiting responsible behavior
These skills are needed in order for students to serve their community and society and achieve personal fulfillment. We believe learning is a lifelong process in which students are expected to take personal responsibility and that learning must take place in a nurturing, safe environment that recognizes the diversity of individuals while ensuring equity for all. Above all, ZD will strive to provide challenging educational opportunities that will develop the skills needed to make students productive and effective citizens.
