Beyond athletics, he demonstrates the same dedication in the classroom, maintaining excellent grades and showing great respect toward his teachers and peers. Stats

  • 1 goal this season

"I am most proud of being varsity all 4 years in soccer. I am proud of this because being varsity, especially as a freshman, is rewarding. Now, as captain, it makes my hard work pay off."

What's one goal you're currently working towards in your sport?

"One goal I am currently working towards in my sport is getting a scholarship for college."

Describe your worst sports performance. What did you learn from this experience?

"My worst soccer performance was against Windsor last year. I just couldn't keep my head, and in that game, I came out with a concussion after an injury. Luckily this year, I took what I failed in last year, and we came out with a victory after not beating them for over 15 years, beating them 4-0."

Who are your role models in your sport or life, and how have they influenced you?

"My role model in my sports is my uncle Lauro who played professionally for Santos Laguna, a Mexican team in La Liga, Mx. He has been a role model because, since I was a kid, I've wanted to play professionally. Also, my dad has always taken me to practice and practiced with me at home. He has taught me how to win and lose and be a good teammate and opponent. I would not be where I am without my dad."

How do you balance sports with other responsibilities like school or work?

"I balance sports with other responsibilities like school or work because of my planner. Last year, I thankfully got into an internship with JBS, and I would go to practice and work after. On my game days, I would sadly take off work. I would do all my homework on the bus rides or during my off block. For work during the summer, I would work construction. I would go to the gym in the morning and hit the soccer field after work."

What are your career or college plans after you graduate high school?

"My career plan is going to college for construction management and owning a construction company after that."

What advice do you have for younger athletes who want to join your sport?

"I would say to go for it. When I initially joined soccer, I never talked, but soccer got me out of my comfort zone."

Do you have any funny pre-game rituals or superstitions that you stick to?

"I always pray because I have always been very religious."

If you were to participate in a talent show unrelated to your sport, what would your act be?

"Playing guitar. It's something I learned to do behind the scenes."
