The D6 Difference: Britte Harder, Nutrition Services

The D6 Difference: Britte Harder, Nutrition Services

"Every decision we make holds the student experience at the center. In my department, we are constantly evolving to try to meet our students and their families where they need us most. I think that extends across the whole district. We have amazing leaders and staff who hold ourselves to a high standard in doing what is best for our students."

Here's why staff choose D6!

"Every decision we make holds the student experience at the center. In my department, we are constantly evolving to try to meet our students and their families where they need us most. I think that extends across the whole district. We have amazing leaders and staff who hold ourselves to a high standard in doing what is best for our students."

When you think about your experience in our district, what makes you feel proud to work here?

"Since my first day, I have felt like my input really matters in my workplace, and I feel like a valuable voice in the room. The leadership in my department really prioritize making sure everyone finds purpose in their work on an individual level. I feel proud to be in Nutrition Services because I have really gotten to mold my own position and pursue new areas that weren't originally part of my job description. This is exemplified every time I go to a conference or visit with staff from other districts across Colorado and the country. Everyone has heard of D6 Nutrition Services!"

What keeps you feeling connected to and supported by our school community?

"I have only lived in Greeley for a bit over a year, but it seems like everyone I meet has a connection to the D6 community. They have a student in D6, their spouse is a teacher, they grew up here and went through our school system. Every time I share that I work for D6, I am met with so much gratitude and encouragement. The community knows how hard we work for our students, and that is very motivating!"

What's a fun fact about your job?

"Sometimes our vendors sell us certain produce items in 'bushel' quantities, so I've been slowly memorizing how much a bushel weighs for different products. For example, a bushel of cucumbers weighs about 50lb, and I buy about 50 bushels of cucumbers per week!"

What is one experience with a student or staff member that left a lasting, positive impact on you?

"I was visiting a classroom and explaining my job to the students. I mentioned that I know the rancher who provides all of our ground beef. The kids were so impressed that they all asked for my autograph afterwards. There's really nothing like a confidence boost from our students!"
