Attendance

Attendance is imperative to the success of students at Greeley-Evans Alternative Program, and is required of all students. The staff at GAP believes that consistent attendance plays a vital role in student success, not only in school, but for future achievement in the workplace.

A doctor's note is required after three consecutive absences. Students who attend regularly graduate on-time or early. Students with poor attendance often fall behind in their classes, and will be placed on an academic plan. Failure to make academic progress may result in being dropped from GAP. Students with 10 mor more consecutive unexcused absences will be dropped from the program.

Absences and tardies will be excused only when documented and/or parent or legal guardian calls the attendance line at 970-348-4901, or provides a note. Documentation must be provided within three days of the absence to be excused. Documentation include:

  • Doctor appointments
  • Court appointments and hearings
  • Probation appointments
  • School business like field trips or testing
  • Pre-arranged family business
  • Emergencies may be excused at the discretion of the principal

Tardies include arriving late to class, after the bell has run, leaving class for more than five minutes without communicating with the teacher, or leaving class early. Students must check in with their teacher if they arrive late to class, and sign out in the office when leaving school early. Students under the age of 18 require a parent or guardian phone call before signing out in the office and leaving early.
